Dear loved ones,
Another week has swiftly passed! This week was filled with a trip to Rayong, some service projects, house inspections, patriarchal blessings, and a much anticipated visit from Elder Kearon! There is no use dilly dallying, I will get right to the pictures!
But first, and I hope I am not repeating myself, we love you and we miss you and we thank you for your love, support, prayers, letters, notes, texts, and emails!
With love,
Elder and Sister Brady (mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, John and Shelly, and so on)
Saturday morning, we headed to Rayong. We began our day with a little service project on the beach!
Elder Brady picks up litter with a smile!
I also helped pick up some litter!
Next stop is Wan, our Thai "Costco." Here is an example of some of the bulk foods you can buy! The missionaries love these cookies and snacks! We snapped this picture and asked them if we should buy a couple for Zone Conference! The answer was, "YES PLEASE!"
Then we headed over to . . . guess where! I have probably never told you how we love KFC in Thailand or how you can get two chicken breasts, a side, and unlimited refills for less than $3 USD!
We thought you should know this!
We did a little more grocery shopping. It is nice to shop in Rayong, because we have a car there. In Bangkok, you can only shop for as much as you can carry on the train and/or long walk home!
If you zoom into the picture you can see what the people ahead of us were buying!!
On our way back to the hotel, Elder Brady ran into some kids playing battling tops! Saturday evening, we got to watch our grandson Aaron's baptism! Pictured above is the Bishop of their ward in Falls Church, Virginia. Katrina is leading the opening song.
The other grandpa, Gene Platt, gives a talk about baptism! He have a shout out to the grandparents watching all the way on the other side of the world in Thailand! Thanks for representing the grandparents, Gene! By the way, it was 10am Saturday morning in D.C. and 9pm in Thailand! Technology is such a blessing! We love that we can connect with our children and grandchildren all the time! We talk to some of them multiple times a week!
The YouTube link stopped working, so Katrina quickly turned on messenger video. The view was a little fuzzy! But we got to see everything well enough!
Grandson, Nick on the right is a witness for the baptism.
I think we accidentally got placed inside a purse for a few minutes . . .
The Platt family sings a beautiful song at the Baptism.
"If the Savior Stood Beside Me"
I took a quick picture before Aaron's confirmation. Aaron and his dad, our son-in-law, Gordon Platt. A messenger popped up on my phone just as I took the screenshot! :)
Aaron come over to say hello to us and to thank us for watching his baptism! We just loved to see his smiling face! We miss our children and grandchildren so much! We love serving, but missing them and special events is truly a sacrifice! We are grateful for our good health and an opportunity to serve and are having a fabulous time! We will be so happy to give them all hugs when we get finished with our mission! In the meantime, hallelujah for technology!
Sunday morning breakfast of the champions!
The Rayong Branch Missionaries! We were thrilled when we found out we got SISTERS in Rayong! We used to have 4 Elders! Now we have 2 ELDERS and 2 SISTERS!!
And of course the Elderly couple - Elder and Sister Brady!
Welcome to Rayong Sisters Henry (who finishes her mission in April) and Sister Jasper!
And we are happy to still have Elders Casinillo and Westcott (who also serves as our branch president).
The missionaries with our future missionaries! Rayong branch members Hyrum and Aujima both plan to serve missions some day. Aujima got baptized nearly a year ago (we were there for her baptism). She just graduated from high school and hopes to go on a mission soon!
Time for a Rayong Branch picture! These are the dearest people!
We love them so much!
Cute An and her mother Gretee! There is an anime cartoon that An says looks like her mother!
Zoom in for a better view!
Nevermind . . . I will zoom in! Haha! We love An and Gretee!
On our drive home Sunday, we saw this! I worry about this kind of seating on busy fast freeways!
Monday, Elder Brady and I took a walk to the Post Office.
It was just a day in the office . . . and a trip to the PO.
I spent some time laminating our 12 commandments of good health and the Cleaning and Maintenance Job Chart! Both of these are supposed to be on the fridges of all of the missionaries "houses!"
Tuesday - House inspection day! First inspection of the month is with the Sisters!
Sisters Furlan and Polsan did a great job!
The Sisters are having a good laugh! The Sisters made a treat for me! It is a beautiful display of imitation treats! :)
Ice cream to celebrate!
Waiting for the subway to head back to the Annex.
Another service project - unpacking and stocking shelves!
Tuesday evening on our walk to the store we saw this motorcyclist popping some wheelies!
Wednesday morning walk along the klong.
Sister Call and I headed out to find a store, Villa Market (where you can find American type foods), that would hopefully have English Muffins and Bagels (breads you don't often find in Thai stores) for Zone Conference breakfast next week. We saw this pretty shrine tucked in behind the bougainvillea.
Sister Call!
Success at Villa Market! Yay! We also found cream cheese! What's on the menu? Bagels, English Muffins, cream cheese, jam, Nutella, etc., Eggs and Cheese, fruit, juice, chocolate milk, and milk!
Wednesday afternoon, Elder Brady gave a patriarchal blessing to this sweet Sister (Sister Ria) from India. She is in the MTC here in Thailand and had not yet received her patriarchal blessing.
She was so excited.
He also gave a blessing to Sister Ria's companion, Sister Kaduluri, also from India and in the MTC. She was also so grateful and happy to receive her blessing.
Wednesday evening dinner after "work!" The Stennetts (MLS and MHA serving in Udon) were in town so we all went out to eat at EAT AM ARE! Calls, Bradys, and Stennetts.
Wednesday evening English Conversation Class!
We spent some time with some wonderful Thai people that are excited converse in English!
Elder Brady sings to Sister Colver's family!
Sister Colver is heading back to the USA. Her mom is from Thailand (and will be flying home with her) and her mom, aunt, and friend were all with her. She spent a few days in Thailand with her family.
More pictures and more goodbyes!
Thank you for your service Sister Colver!
Thursday evening we wait to hear Elder Kearon speak to us! The chapel and overflow are filled to the brim! The Senior Missionaries fill a row! Our APs are at the end of the row.
Sister Kearon speaks. She gave a beautiful message about how we all have physical scars and we can almost always remember how we got them. They remain on our body. But because of the atonement of Jesus Christ our spiritual scars can be completely healed!
Elder Kearon smiles with such love at all who have come to hear him speak. He talked about being grumpy vs. having joy! Choosing faith in Jesus Christ helps us to feel joy!
Elder and Sister Kearon had help from a translator who did a great job translating the talks into Thai.
Friday missionary house inspection! We went to the APs and Office Elders apartment. All four of them share the place! They did a stellar job cleaning! On the way out, they tried to convince us that this fancy Porsche was a new mission car just for them!
Time for lunch with the Elders. All roads lead to Eat Am Are!
Burger time! The Bradys with Elders Saunders, Sae Wang, Hiatt, and Collado!
We finished up this lovely week with a trip to the temple! There is nothing like the peace of worshiping in the House of the Lord.
