Letter 95 - One Month To Go Time

Dear family and friends,

We are down to the last 4 weeks and 2 days of our mission. It all feels so surreal! We continue staying busy doing a lot of our "lasts!" This week was filled with a birthday party, a wedding, our final goodbye devotional with the missionaries, more house inspections, good food, and great friends.

Let's get right to the pictures for all of the details.

But first, please know that we love you and miss you. And we thank you for your love, support, kind words, and prayers.

Sincerely,

Elder and Sister Brady (mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, John and Shelly, and so on)

Saturday, late morning, the Seniors gathered to head out to lunch!!! Pictured: the Justensens, Calls, Whites, and Bradys.
Here we go!
Elder and Sister Call waiting patiently for the train to arrive!
Where did we go, you ask!
Sizzler!
We went to the GOOD Sizzler! This is the one that has unlimited drinks (sodas and slushies), garlic cheese toast, and a much bigger salad, pasta, and nacho bar! Unlike the disappointing one we went to for my birthday in August!!
We were full and happy!
Elder Brady and Elder Call watch the roller skaters at the SeaCon Mall.
Saturday afternoon relaxing.
Saturday evening, we met up with Belle! We met her when we did our first RMRT last year!
This is Kim, Belle, and us! They are from Thailand. We have kept in touch with Belle and occasionally get together for some laughs! She has a boyfriend in the USA, but she is always hanging out with her guy friends her in Thailand! Haha! She loves to make fun of Elder Brady! We will miss her so much!
Saturday evening, after Stake Conference, the Senior Missionaries gathered to sing
Happy Birthday to Elder Justensen.
We ate delicious cake and ice cream. A sweet treat was perfect for this Halloween Birthday celebration!
This cake was better than ever!
All of the Seniors! Whites, President and Sister Rich, Justensens, Bradys, Calls, Thorsens, Nixons (new Area Mental Health and Family Service missionaries), and the Merkleys!
I didn't take any pictures on Sunday. So I will include a few of these awesome pictures of Jesus! By the way, we gave our departure talks in a zoom devotional with our missionaries Sunday evening. If anyone actually reads this blog, and would like to listen a copy of a voice recording of our devotional, just let me know on messenger, text, or email, and I can send you a copy.
I love this painting so much!

Have any of you watched the Chosen? We love it! You can see it on: The Chosen Official Website, Amazon Prime, or BYUtv.
Monday morning while working in the office, we noticed the temple was getting a good bath!
Workers scrubbing the temple walls!
It rains a lot here, and with the humidity buildings can look old quickly.
A lot of care goes into keeping the temple and the temple grounds beautiful.
Zooming in!
Monday, November 2, was the 60th anniversary of the dedication of Thailand for the preaching of the gospel. This dedication took place by the clock tower at the beautiful Lumphini Park. Spoiler Alert - we will be attending a special program on Saturday where the church will be donating some park benches and the missionaries as well as other community members and members of the church will be doing some clean-up service in the park. Expect some pictures on next week's blog! Here is a little more history of our church in Thailand: Feb 2, 1968 - the first modern full-time missionaries arrived in Bangkok from Taiwan and Hong Kong. Oct 22, 2023 - The Bangkok Thailand Temple was dedicated.
We did a little scouting for missionary housing. This is the beautiful view from the balcony of one of the rooms that we looked at!
Another gorgeous view!
It is a pretty nice Condo - if you ask me!
The swimming pool.
The view from the gym!
The Bangkok Thailand Temple.
Tuesday after a day in the office, I went to Fortune Town to go shopping. I love these little fruit stands set up in front of the grocery store! I will miss fresh fruit - so delicious and ready for me to eat!
Before shopping, Sister Merkley and I went for our Thai massages! Do you see the mango sticky rice stand behind me! This is where we can buy mango sticky rice for $1!!!
The Christmas Season has begun! Or as the sign says: "The Journey Begins!"
I love it!!
Merry Christmas!
They even decorated the steps that lead into the mall!
Across the street is another Mall - Central Rama! Malls are everywhere in Bangkok!
On Wednesday, I played tour guide for the Nixons. Elder and Sister Nixon are Area Senior Missionaries. He is the Mental Health Missionary that works with missionaries that need some extra support (don't we all at times?)! He covers a few countries and meets with missionaries on zoom. Missions are wonderful - missions are also hard. I am so grateful the church provides support for missionaries worldwide. Sister Nixon works with Family Services. They are a great new addition to our Senior group of missionaries.
I walked the Nixons around for an hour and a half showing them all of our favorite places to eat (from food carts to street markets to restaurants), the old church building, and finally the hospital.
Pictured above is one of the Bumrungrad hospital lobbies. In Thailand, the hospital is also where you go for routine doctor's appointments as well as to see specialists. We have spent a fair amount of time here, especially considering Elder Brady's 2 week stay here back in the Spring. We are grateful for the excellent medical care available here in Thailand.
I left the Nixons at the hospital to get registered. On my walk home, I could hear something rustling in the grass on the other side of the fence.
Can you see the Water Monitor?
Let me get a better picture!
Do you see him now?
The skies started to get darker as I was walking home. This is above the temple.
The sky gets darker off in the distance.
My friend Katie texted me and said the skies were looking crazy! She sent me a picture from her apartment window. The picture does not do the actual view justice!
Wednesday was a slow day in the office, so we decided to play a game. The boys won cribbage. Ugh.
Wednesday evening at dusk, you can see the glow of the temple lights. We have such a beautiful view from our office.
Thursday morning, we headed out the door to Bangkapi. We keep thinking everywhere we go that this is the last time we will go here (wherever we are)! There is a chance we will do an inspection or two in the next transfer (when we are down to our last 2 weeks) unless we are too busy training and packing. This is the cool circus restroom at The Fashion Mall!
I LOVE the crazy themed bathrooms in the malls in Thailand!!!
The Bangkapi Sisters did a great job cleaning! We love these sweet girls and we are going to miss Sister Makilan (from the Philippines) and Sister Pluenangperamkit (from Thailand).
We headed over to the Fashion Mall and ended up at Sizzler!! We enjoyed every bite!
Spaghetti with pesto sauce and the yummiest guacamole and Pico de Gallo!
I love the fresh fruit here! And the Garlic Toast is yummy!
And we finished off the meal with some chocolate ice cream with cookie crumbs.
The Malls have such cool decorations here! I love the giant lampshades in this section!
Sister Plueangperamkit had a sweet gift for us. A bookmark and some other fun trinkets along with this cute origami shirt that had a sweet handwritten note on it (inside). She told us to open it after we left, so we opened it on the train ride back home.
There was not enough seats on the Subway, so Elder Brady, ever the gentleman, stood so I could take a seat. I took a seat and a picture :)!
After we got back home, I went across the street to...
...Buy an Oreo Milkshake! 50 Baht is only $1.50 USD!!!!
If you want something healthy, you can get that here too. The fruit smoothies are amazing too! A watermelon smoothie is only $1 USD.
Here - take a look for yourself!
I went with the Oreo. :) We plan to share these later!
Thursday afternoon, Elder Hansen stopped in the office to say goodbye! His mission is over and he is heading back home! We will miss him!
Sister Kanyaphan and me! We will miss her!
Thursday after work, we walked to the Pizza Company for dinner!
Dinner with Jessica and Kaitlyn!! We were not that hungry after our big lunch, so we had a lot of leftovers to freeze for future pizza for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner!
After dinner, we went back to the apartment for movie night! We were all so full that we shared one of those Oreo milkshakes with all four of us! I guess we will have to eat/drink the other one another night!
Kaitlyn rests on the sofa. Do you see the bandages? She had a motorcycle accident a few nights ago. She was a passenger, and flew off the bike on a bump or a turn somehow. She ended up in the hospital for a night! We are so thankful she is alive and well!
The girls wanted to start the Christmas Season off - so we watched a Christmas movie on Netflix. Guess the movie! (I will let you know at the end of this post!)
I wanted to get a picture with Kaitlyn and Jessica. Look at all of her bandages! Poor thing!
Kaitlyn started giggling and took her phone out because she was getting a kick out of Elder Brady taking a picture of us!
So she took a picture of him!
This really got Jessica laughing! We will miss these sweeties!
Friday morning, our STLs (Sister Trainer Leaders) stopped in the office on their way home from immigration. These lovely sisters had not slept all night and look how beautiful they are!
We love Sisters Brunt and Brooks!
Elder Brady had some fun with some AI this morning and enjoyed showing Elder Call!
Would you like to see the photo he edited?
His Mom and Siblings! Do you see the family resemblance? Can you spot Elder Brady?
Friday afternoon luncheon! Today is Europa's wedding day! Many of the Seniors were invited to celebrate her special day. It started with a lunch at 1pm.
Burmese food was served. Europa is from Myanmar (or Burma).
It was chicken and rice and a yummy dessert mix! It was very unique and delicious.
The chicken and rice.
This was a drink that had rice flour balls, a vanilla pudding, and almonds in it. It also had a pink drink of some sort and vanilla ice cream! I hadn't added the ice cream yet in the picture above.
After lunch, we walked the long 2 minute walk to the temple for Europa and Kevin's wedding/temple sealing. This picture is outside the temple afterwards. Pictured are me with Sisters Boyle (from England - currently serving a mission in Germany - but flew to Thailand because she and her husband knew Europa when they served their missions in Thailand and Myanmar! This is the couples 7th mission!!!), Call, and Merkley! And look who is photobombing the picture! Haha!
All of the women who attended the sealing.
Me and Noi! Noi has been the amazing custodian and cook here for almost all of our mission. She recently retired and is getting ready to do some traveling! She makes the best cookies!
Kevin and Europa! Kevin is from India. He is a wonderful man who truly loves Europa (who wouldn't love Europa). Europa is so sweet. We have loved getting to know her.
Europa works in the country office and among her many projects, she is translating the Scriptures into Burmese. She is working on many projects translating. We are so grateful she found the one!
Getting ready to throw the Bouquet!
There it goes!!!
President and Sister Johnson (the Asia Area President and wife) pose with the newlyweds.
Lots of picture taking! But, we are going to sneak away so I can get to the office and finish the blog!

It is Friday night and we are heading to the reception next! We have a big service project at Lumphini Park tomorrow, followed by a day of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the church in Thailand.
And next week is jampacked as the countdown continues!

Thank you for reading!
We love you!
Bye!
Oh! And the movie was Jingle All the Way!
