Letter 79 - Transfer Week AGAIN and GUESS WHO IS IN THAILAND?!!!!

Dear Loved Ones!

This has been a wonderful week in Thailand! Why? Because it is Thailand and we love it here! I am trying to get this out a day early, because we are going to be going nonstop next week!

Guess why?

OK, I will tell you why! Because it is transfer day tomorrow and on top of that Katrina and family arrive tonight!!!! We are so excited!!!

But, I am jumping ahead of myself. Let me get straight to the pictures.

But first we want you to know that we miss you, love you, and thank you for your love, support, and prayers!

Love,

Elder and Sister Brady (mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, John and Shelly, and so on)

Last Saturday, we were craving healthy food (I know, it was weird)! So, we headed over to the mall to Jones' Salad for lunch!
Elder Brady ordered a sandwich and I had a yummy salad! The name of my salad was "Cereal Salad" because it has some grains on it!
Saturday after lunch, we went shopping (no pictures of shopping this time). Elder Brady headed home with the groceries and I stayed at the mall and got a pedicure.
After my pedicure, we headed over to another giant mall where IKEA is located. We wanted to buy some frozen meatballs and mashed potatoes to feed Katrina when they are here. We will get plenty of Thai food when they are here, but we thought it would be fun to have some Swedish Meatballs for Sunday dinner (in honor of their time living in Sweden)! This picture has nothing to do with IKEA or meatballs, but I thought the manikin in the middle looked a lot like Elder Brady! Hahaha!
Sunday, I dropped my phone on my foot. I don't know if you can see the bruise on the right. My toes look nice though! :)
I spy the beautiful Bangkok Thailand Temple.
Monday morning, we were surprised with a happy reunion! Elder Borden saw his mom and dad for the first time in two years!
First hug! So many tears from all of us!!
We love Elder Borden and cannot believe he is going home already! We loved getting to know him when he served in Rayong. He and Elder Brady share a birthday.
Fun fact! His mom works for SkyWest, where I worked as a flight attendant a few years ago!
Monday office ladies lunch!
When the Senior Elders found out we were having a ladies lunch, they decided to go get burgers! They caught up with us in the Metro tunnel that goes under the busy street above.
While the men at their burgers, we sisters went to "Get Fresh!"
Sisters White, Thorsen, me, Justensen, and Call.
I enjoyed my delicious salad and watermelon smoothie!
Tuesday, Sister Call and I headed out to order some Moo Bing (meat on a stick) for Friday's transfer morning breakfast. We ran into Sister Gilson's parents who are here in Thailand to pick up their daughter on Thursday (official joping day).
Official business! I am handing an important piece of mail to Sister Nok. She handles the immigration details for all of the missionaries, and a couple of passports she had been waiting for arrived in the mail! Yay!
Wednesday, we got another visit from our beloved former missionaries, Ivan and Pui! We met their friend Man too!
Pui took a polaroid picture of us all!
She does not use her Polaroid camera on just anyone!! That is what we were told! haha!
We feel honored!
Tuesday evening, we made ourselves a little treat! We buy the big quart of DQ soft serve and bring it home. We dish up a little in our mini glasses, add some Milo (malted chocolate) and milk, and make mini milkshakes! Yum!
Thursday morning, the joping (departing) missionaries begin to arrive! Sixteen missionaries are heading home. We have spent 18 months serving with, praying for, getting to know, and loving these missionaries! I confess a few tears were shed throughout this day!
Saying good-bye to Elder Kargis and Elder Jones. We worked with both of these wonderful Elders in Rayong. We will miss them so much!
Speaking of missionaries! Here are our newly arrived Elders and Sisters! Pictures are 6 of our 7 new missionaries, the Calls, Bradys, and the APs. Back: Elders Albaron, Brady, Dodini, Sisters Brown, Barber, Call, and Elder Call. Front: Me, Sisters Schaad, Peterson, Elders Hansen, and Lowry!
Missionaries who are coming into town for transfers and/or training also arrive on Thursday. We love Sister Furlan and Sister Jasper. We worked with both of them in Rayong!
Goodbye Sister Gilson! We love you and will miss you!
Goodbye to Sisters Gilson and Lundberg! And goodbye to Elders Auernig and Nielsen!
Our mission leaders with all of the departing missionaries!
It hurts to see this group leave!

In the meantime, Thursday evening, the Platts made it to Korea!! Aaron cannot stay awake!
Friday morning at 1:30am, we set our alarm to wake up and head to the airport to pick up Katrina and family!!! By 2:10am we found them!! We managed to pack 14 large suitcases, 7 carryons, 7 back packs, and 9 people into the van and drive them back to the annex where they would be staying for a couple of nights! It was so wonderful to see them and give them all big hugs!!! We got them settled and went back to bed. I could not fall asleep until about 4am!
The alarm was set for 7am because the show must go on!! It was transfer day!!! I headed down to the office to put together the fruit trays, John was on duty to pick up the Pantangko (the Thai donuts), and the Calls went to pick up the Moo Bing.
After breakfast, we headed out to the balcony to take pictures of the new missionaries with their companions. One of our transfer day duties is to send a letter from the mission leaders along with a picture of the new missionary to the parents to let them know their missionary is safe and sound in Thailand!
Elder Brady is our official photographer! He does a great job!
Look who is joining us for breakfast! The Platts! Gordon, Nick, Henry, me, Aaron, Charlotte, Katrina, and Brady!
All of our new missionaries and their companions!
Time for training! We meet with the new missionaries for some orientation. We have some papers for them to sign and Elder Brady tells them a little bit about housing and bikes, and I go over some medical and health rules with the help of our mission health advisor (who says hello over facetime).
The Platts joined us for the training!
We have a few minutes to take a break in between training and lunch!
After lunch, we gave the Platts a tour of the annex! Here we are on the 3rd floor where the MTC is located. We are chatting with a dear lady who helps keep the annex clean!
After finishing all the transfer duties, reports, and office work for the day, we headed down to the subway to head out and find something to eat for dinner!
We got off at the Asoke Station by Terminal 21 Mall. We could not resist giving a tip to this talented violinist! She smiled and played for us! Brady and Aaron put the tip money in her violin case!
Dinner at SW1 Market! The grandchildren hop on the Tuk Tuk for a photo!
We walked up and down the aisles looking at all the food. Nick, Brady, and Aaron are trying to decide what to eat. They decided not to try the Crocodile.
They also did not want to try the mini octopi (or whatever that is!)!
Almost everyone settled on smoothies. Grandpa and Gordon got some actual food. Grandma got a Banana and Nutella Roti (of course)!
The final stop of the day was a quick tour of Terminal 21 Mall!
And when I say a tour of Terminal 21 Mall, I mean a tour of the Terminal 21 Mall themed restrooms!
This bathroom is on the London Floor of the mall! I love it! The animated train is so cool!
The Istanbul restroom has hot air balloons!
And the San Francisco floor of the mall has a 49ers themed bathroom. The girls room was all decked out in cheerleader outfits and pom poms! Three generations pose for the photo - Charlotte, Katrina, and me!!

And that concludes this week's blog! I started it on Thursday - hoping to actually get it done that day, but obviously did not! It is now Saturday morning, and I came down to the office to post the blog NOW and as soon as I do, I will head upstairs for breakfast with the Platts, a temple session with Katrina and Gordon, and then we are heading off to Rayong!

This upcoming week will be crazy busy as we take the Platts on a grand tour of Rayong, Bangkok, and so on!

Thanks for reading! I don't have time to proof for any typos!

If you made it this far . . . we will eat something new and fantastic for YOU this week!
Let me know if made it!

Thanks for reading! Bye!
