Letter 41 - Family in Town Part 2 and Other Fun

 Dear family and friends!

This past week we enjoyed some more cool Bangkok sights with John's brother, Rick and Belley! In addition to family in town, I had some more work done on my teeth (crown fitting after the root canal), we did some house inspections, we celebrated the 1 year anniversary of our Branch in Rayong, we played some pickleball, we had a Pday mac n' cheese and cookie lunch with some of our Bangkok missionaries, we had a Senior Sister Missionary lunch (aka ladies lunch!), and a good-bye dinner for Elder and Sister Farmer! Oh, and did I mention 7 more patriarchal blessings in 4 days??? And we joined a choir for a Christmas Concert.

On that note, let's just get right to the pictures!

But before that, please know that we love you and miss you and love to hear from you!

With love,

Elder and Sister Brady (mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, John and Shelly, and so on)

Last Friday: On our way out to meet up with John's Brother, we ran into Sister Skidmore from the West mission! She is leaving soon! We will miss her happy smiling face!
On the train!
John sitting at attention on the train! Haha!
When you haven't seen your brother for a whole day, you greet him with a hug!
Now that is what you call "Brotherly Love!"
The Mahanakhon Building! We are finally visiting the tallest building in Bangkok!
This is the view from the 74th Floor! This floor has large windows on all sides so you can get a 360 degree view of Bangkok! It was a beautiful sunny day!
The view was spectacular!
Here are some buildings from around the world for some comparisons!
Another view. Off in the distance is the Chao Phraya River and beyond that is an area called "The Green Lung." It is a park like community that is "green!"
We hope to visit soon and go for a bike ride on the numerous bike trails!
Another view of the river. Across the river to the right of the two tall buildings is the Millennium Hilton. We stayed there in July/August for the Young Single Adult Conference. It is a lovely hotel on the river.
On the 78th floor, you can experience the "Skywalk!" John took a shot looking down! This glass floor hangs off the side of the building. If you are brave, you can do the skywalk!
John and Rick both gaze below! It is hard not to get dizzy!
And then they broke out in a fight! Haha!
Shelly (standing) gazes off in the distance!
Shelly and Belley waving hello!
John standing at attention on the 79th floor!
Taking a rest before we head back down to ground level!
Shelly and Belley :)!
On the way out of the building we found out that our tickets included this cool virtual experience!
So we walked through and enjoyed all the interactive rooms.
There were 9 rooms in all!
Next stop, Icon Siam. This is a cool high end mall! A must see in Bangkok!
The first floor has food carts. Here is an alligator, cooked and ready to eat. No thank you.
We ate lunch at the same Thai food restaurant that we ate at last March when Rick visited.
We ate the same Thai Coconut Ice Cream.
And just like last time . . . It was amazing!
The bathrooms in the Mall are photo worthy!
Friday night we visited the SW1 Night Market!
There is all kinds of yummy street food, including these yummy insects!
I did not try any of them. No thank you!
More alligator! Pass!

Rick and Belley ate yummy skewers of meats and veggies!
I ate more coconut ice cream!
John was full from lunch!
A view of the Night Market from the walkway to the train!
Saturday morning it is back to work! House inspection in Rayong with Elders Morgan and Saunders!
They did a great job cleaning!
Yummy lunch at KFC! Sometimes you just need fried chicken for lunch.
Elders Lowry, Morgan, Saunders, and Sevilla.
Next stop at Elders Lowry and Selvilla's place. They did an A+ job!
Saturday evening we drove to the beach and took a little walk.
We found our Rayong Branch missionaries and friends. This was a celebration of the one year anniversary of formation of the Rayong Branch!
We enjoyed visiting and spending time at the beach.
Rayong Lighthouse!
We played Spike Ball for the first time! It was very fun!
We will probably have to buy the game when we get off of our mission!
I found a swing!
Wheeeee!!
Beautiful view walking back to the car! The lights are from ships out on the water!
This Wat (Buddhist Temple) sparkles in the headlights of our car! I plan to visit this Wat soon!
The former queen of Thailand passed away this week. Our mission leader posted this picture of the former King and Queen of Thailand back in the 70s. The missionaries in the picture above were part of a music group that sang all over Thailand in the 70s.
They were even on national TV.
They also sang for the King and Queen and presented them with a Book of Mormon.
Look who is in the picture?? It is Elder Brady! He was in the music group in the 70s.
Sunday after church we had a pizza party to celebrate Rayong's one year anniversary!
Monday morning, these cute former Sister Missionaries video called us! It was so fun to catch up with Sisters Taylor and Bullock! Malea and Ellie! It is nonstop laughter when we are together! Even if we are half a world apart! We miss them so much and are so glad to hear they are doing well!
Monday afternoon, we made arrangements to play pickleball with some of our Bangkok Zone missionaries. We had a court at 1pm and played one on one waiting for the missionaries to arrive. Elder Brady showed no mercy and Sister Brady nearly died! If you zoom in on this selfie you will see our red faces! It was hot and humid in this facility. It was a great workout. Sadly, our missionaries were delayed and we were too exhausted to play more than an hour so we headed back to our apartment.
The missionaries joined us here at the annex in our apartment for a relaxing Pday afternoon!
Sister Siri and Elders Propromma and Fife!
Elder Brady makes some of his famous Kraft Macaroni and Cheese! These boxes are gold at $3 a box as you can only find them at the Villa Market (an overpriced store that sells American food!) But when you need some of that comfort food from home, you are willing to pay the price!!
Sisters Lundberg and Sanford.
Sister Brady makes her delicious chocolate chip cookies! Elder Fife finishes up the dishes while Sisters Lundberg, Sanford, and Siri help with the cookies!
The whole group!
After pasta, cookies, and pear apples, we played some UNO! The Sisters won all three games!
Tuesday the Senior Sisters got together to have lunch! This was a good-bye lunch for Sisters Belnap and Farmer whose missions finish this week and next week.
Seated clockwise after me are: Sister Meeker (West Mission Office), Sister Belnap (my coworker leaving next Thursday), Sister Farmer (left on Halloween - served as humanitarian missionaries with her husband), Sister Howard (the new office missionary in the East mission, my new coworker replacing the Belnaps), Sister Stepp (West Mission Office).
Tuesday afternoon we had the opportunity to bless Danish from Pakistan.
He was such a nice young man.
On Wednesday, Elder Brady blessed Azaz from Pakistan. He was also a wonderful person to meet. We are wearing black or dark colors as directed by our mission leaders. It is customary to dress in black for a period of time after the passing of royalty in Thailand.
This beautiful lovely lady (Danish's sister) was blessed Wednesday afternoon as well. She was so sweet and beautiful inside and out!
Wednesday evening at the mall (on my way home from picking up some groceries) I saw this display to honor the former Queen of Thailand.
And we ran into these three from Pakistan in the lobby.
Thursday morning, we woke up to messages from a family from India. They were in Bangkok to go to the temple for the first time and were heading home on Friday. They had been hoping and praying that they could receive their patriarchal blessings and were thrilled with the miracle of their names finally getting into the system. So we suddenly had three more blessings to fit in!
John blessed this lovely husband and wife, Emmanuel and Narmada.
They had so much faith and were overjoyed to get their blessings.
Thursday evening we joined the Seniors at a goodbye dinner for the Farmers.
This restaurant is called Smizzle and their specialty is Smash Burgers! They are so messy they give you gloves to eat with! The burgers were delicious! And we enjoyed the company!
Bradys, Stepps, Meekers, Riches (West Mission Leaders), Farmers, and Elder Howard (new office missionary replacing Elder Belnap)

Yay! You made it to the end!!

Thanks for reading the Blog! We love and miss you! :)
