Dear Family and Friends!
"Sawatdee Kha!" That means Hello in Thai! It also means Good-bye! However, I gave you the female version. If you are a man, you will want to say "Sawatdee Krap!" And that includes my Thai language lesson for this week's blog!
It is actually Sunday afternoon here and I am a couple days late posting my "Friday" blog and I am one week late for a "Happy Mother's Day" to all of the wonderful Moms I know including my own dear mom, Harriette Ferre, my step-mom, Linda Brown, and the beautiful mothers of all of our grandchildren Michelle, Katrina, Tessa, and Kara! I hope you had a great day celebrating you! I enjoyed my Mother's Day here in Thailand. The highlight was Facetiming with my children and grandchildren and with my mother and step-mom (and dad too). I am so grateful for technology that keeps us so connected.
And in case anyone is interested, Mother's Day in Thailand is on August 12th and Father's Day is on December 5th.
The rainy season seems to have begun and we have had more rain than usual. If the wind isn't blowing too hard, we brave the rain (I mean we are Oregonians . . . we can handle some rain). But when the when starts blowing sideways, we don't really want to get soaked, so we stay in or take a Grab (Thai's version of Uber or Lyft). If we do end up getting stuck in a rainstorm, it isn't all that bad. It just feels like you stepped into a warm shower with all of your clothes on. Haha!
It has been a good week! Time is flying by! Pictures posted below have more details! Thanks for reading!
Love,
Elder and Sister Brady
(mom and dad, grandpa and grandma, friend and so on)
Happy Mother's Day to my step-mom, Linda Brown!
Hamburgers at Humble Burger in Rayong with Elders Belleza, Jones, Bergstedt, and Fife!
Teaching our good friend in Rayong!
Teaching another friend in Rayong. Teaching both of these friends was really special. It is wonderful to testify of our faith in Jesus Christ and to feel their love and excitement for His gospel.
Dawson Brady's Baptism! 10 in Idaho and 11pm in Thailand.
Dawson is 8 and is getting baptized!
This is round 11am in Idaho and Midnight in Thailand! Dawson's Aunt is speaking to Dawson before his confirmation. I was so happy to see our grandson get baptized and confirmed!
Walking to the hospital for a doctor's appointment.
We love how the sidewalks are like obstacle courses!
We decided to take a Grab to the doctor's when we came outside to this rainstorm!
Waiting for some tests (PS -results = clean bill of health!)
A beautiful view of the temple from the 6th floor balcony of our building. Some of our Senior missionaries live in the Condo that towers to the right.
Facetiming with Rikki as she gets ready to workout! She loves to make this face whenever I tell her she is pretty! It makes us laugh (as you can see in the upper right window!)
Elders Pantila and Tripoli passed the house inspection with flying colors!!
Elder Pantila returns home to the Philippines this week! We will miss him!
Another train ride! Poor John lost his missionary name tag on this trip.
It fell off somewhere along the way. :(
Elders Hansen and Fowles also passed their home inspection! And they have challenged us to a pickleball game! We look forward to the game . . . and we will post more pictures of that!
Our new favorite place to eat! Pepper Lunch! They bring you the dish sizzling hot! The meat cooks in front of you while you stir the rice and meat together! It is so yummy!
Another big fancy mall! Malls are a big deal here in Thailand.
This one is so big, there were 3 Pepper Lunch restaurants located in it!
I think it is time for a haircut. Heading down the escalator to catch another train.
I had to snap a picture of this beautiful bride and groom coming out of the temple!
They were able to get a few pictures before another rainstorm began.
Ice Cream with Sisters Bullock and Taylor. Sister Bullock finishes her mission this week too!
We will miss Sister Bullock! And this is really good ice cream!
Helping unpack some boxes for the Distribution Center here at the Annex.
Is John working hard . . . or hardly working? (haha)
Motorcycles . . . are everywhere! And there are apparently no traffic laws for them. They cut in front of you , zip by you, drive on the sidewalk, and will even drive against traffic if it helps them get to where they are going faster!
John letting the missionaries know we have arrived for an inspection.
The gorgeous ocean view from this missionary apartment building!
Elders Gao and Olsen keep a tidy apartment!
Walking to the mall with the missionaries. (This sky bridge took us over the busy road below).
I captured this lightening as we were driving to Rayong on Saturday!
It was a stormy drive with thunder and lightening!
I posted a video of the lightening strike on my stories and out of the whole video, Facebook decided this great look on my face was what should show up on my stories. Thank you Facebook . . .
